Top 10 Reasons to Ski Park City in March

Park City Canyons VillageAfter one of the snowiest January’s in resort history, Park City is gearing up for spring! Did you know, March and April are the locals favorite month to ski?  It’s warm, the sun shines on most days, and, in many cases, it’s the month that brings the most snow. It’s also the time when many people have a lengthy chunk of available vacation—which is why March’s spring break season is the second most popular time for skiing, ranking just behind the crush that is the week between Christmas and New Year’s.  There are many reasons to book a spring skiing vacation, but here’s a list of Top 10 Reasons to book a ski vacation this spring to Park City.

  1.  Discounts and Deals on Park City Lodging
As we welcome warmer spring days, we also welcome discounts and deals.  Visiting Park City after the Christmas and President’s Week holidays allows you to avoid peak pricing.  Enjoy various lodging deals, equipment rental, and activity discounts, including some free activities when you vacation with Park City Canyons Lodging during the spring.
  2. Plenty of Activities for the Non-Skier
Alpine Coaster at PCMRDownhill not your thing? No problem. White Pine Touring has groomed 3k, 5k and 10k cross-country loops with spectacular mountain views that are appropriate for all skill levels, plus lessons and guided tours. Gorgoza Park has seven lighted lanes for inner tubing open to ages three and up. They’ve also got pint-sized snowmobiles and also a tubing carousel for kids ages 1-6. Yes, we have roller coasters in Park City.  The Alpine Coaster at Park City Mountain Resort takes riders on a windy, elevated track through aspen trees, while a two-person zipline open to anyone 42” and taller, provides a unique aerial view.  And a little closer to your home-away-from-home, Canyons Village offers private snowshoe tours off the beaten mountain paths, where you can stop to make snow angels before reaching a mountain summit for hot chocolate. Horse-drawn sleighs and dog sleds are also available to offers families different—but equally stunning–vantage points.
  3. Foster Olympic Dreams
Built for the 2002 Winter Olympics, Utah Olympic Park includes a museum as well as opportunities to tackle obstacles courses, zipine from a 65-foot-high drop tower, and even ride down the Olympic bobsled track (16 and up).
  4. Bon Appetite
Outdoor Dining in Park CityOutdoor deck dining is not just for the summer months. Midday lunch outside during spring is a great way to break up your day on the mountain.  Try Deer Valley Resort or Park City Mountain Resort’s on-mountain dining options, or head down Quit’N Time underneath Town Lift to grab lunch on Historic Main Street.  Jupiter Bowl is an upscale bowling alley, arcade and restaurant with burgers, pizza and pub fare that’s sure to provide all ages sustenance and entertainment.
  5. Ski Like a Pro
Skiing is always fun, but skiing in soft snow that’s conducive to all skiing abilities/desires is the BEST.  Enjoy skiing bumps? Perfect, they’re soft in the spring and you’ll feel like a pro. Prefer groomers? Even better – firm in the morning and softer by the afternoon, springtime groomers will make you feel pro.
  6. No Hand Warmers Required
    Spring Break at Canyons
Worry not about remembering to put hand warmers in your pocket before leaving for the resorts – you won’t need them! Spring’s mild temps help keep your hard-to-manage extremities warm, even for the little ones. Your family will thank you for coming in the spring.  Not only does this make getting dressed to hit the slopes a breeze, but it will also lighten your suitcase.  Warmer temperatures = fewer layers.  Try a moisture-wicking base layer underneath a shell with ventilation zips for maximum breathability.
  7. Apre Ski Outside
It’s always fun to grab a beverage after a great day on the mountain, so why not enjoy the fresh sunshine while you do.  Grab your friends and hit the deck – there are local craft beers to imbibe as you absorb the sun’s warmth and chat about your great day on the slopes.
  8. Outdoor Concerts
Pond Skimming Park CityWe can’t think of a better way to end a ski day than by grooving to live music outside. Thanks to Mountain Town Music, spring concerts in Park City will never cease to amaze you – so take off your boots, and put on your dancing shoes!
  9. Spring Events & Activities
