- Opening Day at our Ski Resorts – This year, Park City will open for the 2017-18 Ski Season on Thanksgiving Day followed next week by Deer Valley Resort on December 2, 2017. Won’t you join us?
- Celebrate Christmas in Park City – Visitors can join in some of our time-honored traditions such as watching Santa come down the Town Lift to watching the Torchlight Parades at both Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resorts. Take in a show at the The Egyptian Theatre or shop for last-minute gifts along Historic Main Street and The Tanger Outlets.
- Utah Olympic Park – Olympic Trials for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined – Dec. 30-31 – In a winner-take-all event where the victors will be named to Team USA. The Olympic Trials will feature Nordic Combined on Saturday, Dec. 30 followed by Ski Jumping for men and women on Sunday, Dec. 31.
- New Year’s Eve in Park City – The New Year’s Eve Celebration at Canyons Village is fun for the entire family! Family-friendly activities begin at 3pm and include live entertainment, sleigh rides, music and our massive fireworks display at approximately 7:00 pm.
- FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup – January 1-12, 2018 – The world’s best freestyle skiers come together one last time before they head to the Olympics. Catch them this winter for the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup at Deer Valley Resort as they twist, fly and race their way to the podium. All events are free to the public.
- Martin Luther King Holiday – Snow, sun and fun are waiting for you during the Martin Luther King Holiday (Monday, January 15, 2018) weekend in Park City Utah! Take advantage of some of the best lodging deals of the season.
- Sundance Film Festival – Jan 18-28, 2018 – The Sundance Film Festival is a showcase for new work from American and international independent filmmakers, comprising of competitive sections for American and international dramatic and documentary films, both feature films and short films. - Spring Gruv & Pond Skimming – March 24-April 8, 2018 – Park City presents the 10th annual Park City Spring Grüv. For 16 days Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Village will be having huge, free concerts, as well as the 22nd Annual Pond Skimming Contest to be held on April 7, 2018 at Canyons!
- Easter in Park City – April 8, 2018 – Easter in Park City is April 1, 2018, and that means many things: beautiful blue sky days, incredible skiing, longer days and of course, Easter Egg hunts.

Park City presents the 10th annual Spring Grüv. For 16 days Park City Resort will be hosting free concerts in the two villages, as well as the 21st Annual Pond Skimming Contest! It’s one of those traditions that has been wild from the start. The Pond Skimming Contest is Park City’s most popular party and is the true indicator that spring has arrived. Contestants must dress in costume (the funkier the better) as they attempt to cross a 100-foot pond on skis or a snowboard. The pond and the excitement happen at mid-mountain just outside Red Pine Lodge. Must be 10 years of age or older to enter. Spectators will need a lift or gondola ticket to watch.
After one of the snowiest January’s in resort history, Park City is gearing up for spring! Did you know, March and April are the locals favorite month to ski? It’s warm, the sun shines on most days, and, in many cases, it’s the month that brings the most snow. It’s also the time when many people have a lengthy chunk of available vacation—which is why March’s spring break season is the second most popular time for skiing, ranking just behind the crush that is the week between Christmas and New Year’s. There are many reasons to book a spring skiing vacation, but here’s a list of Top 10 Reasons to book a ski vacation this spring to Park City.
Downhill not your thing? No problem. White Pine Touring has groomed 3k, 5k and 10k cross-country loops with spectacular mountain views that are appropriate for all skill levels, plus lessons and guided tours. Gorgoza Park has seven lighted lanes for inner tubing open to ages three and up. They’ve also got pint-sized snowmobiles and also a tubing carousel for kids ages 1-6. Yes, we have roller coasters in Park City. The Alpine Coaster at Park City Mountain Resort takes riders on a windy, elevated track through aspen trees, while a two-person zipline open to anyone 42” and taller, provides a unique aerial view. And a little closer to your home-away-from-home, Canyons Village offers private snowshoe tours off the beaten mountain paths, where you can stop to make snow angels before reaching a mountain summit for hot chocolate. Horse-drawn sleighs and dog sleds are also available to offers families different—but equally stunning–vantage points.
Outdoor deck dining is not just for the summer months. Midday lunch outside during spring is a great way to break up your day on the mountain. Try Deer Valley Resort or Park City Mountain Resort’s on-mountain dining options, or head down Quit’N Time underneath Town Lift to grab lunch on Historic Main Street. Jupiter Bowl is an upscale bowling alley, arcade and restaurant with burgers, pizza and pub fare that’s sure to provide all ages sustenance and entertainment.
Worry not about remembering to put hand warmers in your pocket before leaving for the resorts – you won’t need them! Spring’s mild temps help keep your hard-to-manage extremities warm, even for the little ones. Your family will thank you for coming in the spring. Not only does this make getting dressed to hit the slopes a breeze, but it will also lighten your suitcase. Warmer temperatures = fewer layers. Try a moisture-wicking base layer underneath a shell with ventilation zips for maximum breathability.
